Ozzie Smith played the first four seasons of his MLB career with the San Diego Padres. Then he was traded to St. Louis. His first year with the Cardinals ended with the franchise's first World Series championship since 1967. Smith played in two more World Series for the Cardinals, in 1985 and 1987. He won 13 consecutive Gold Glove Awards as a shortstop. Smith retired after the 1996 season, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2002, his first year of eligibility.
