Removing Overgrown Ivy From Homes

Andy from Renovate Innovate removes English ivy from the side of a brick home in preparation for construction work. The ivy grew roots that stuck to the brick and could cause damage to the exterior. Andy used a variety of small tools — like a scraper, an ax, and a reciprocating saw — to prepare to use a digger to pull the sheet of ivy clean off of the brick. Although ivy is invasive and may prevent other plants from growing, removal is usually unnecessary and done mostly for aesthetic purposes.
