TikTok’s Chinese-based parent company, ByteDance, planned to use the app in order to surveil the location of specific American citizens, according to internal materials reviewed by Forbes. The material indicated that ByteDance’s Internal Audit Team was planning to use location information for purposes other than targeted ads. Forbes did not disclose the nature of the materials in order to protect sources.
