On Govatsa Dwadashi, cows, who are considered sacred by the Hindu community, are worshipped. They are considered equivalent to mothers for nourishing humanity and this festival is known by many other names. In Maharashtra, it is celebrated as Vasu Baras and people in Gujarat celebrate it as Vagh Baras or Bach Baras. In Andhra Pradesh, it is observed as Sripada Vallabha Aradhana Utsav. It is also called Nandini Vrat, which is celebrated as a thanksgiving festival for cows and calves and ‘Nandini’ refers to the divine cow in Hinduism. On Govatsa Dwadashi 2022, share these wishes with your loved ones.1
