Japan and Taiwan’s Contentious History

For over a century, Taiwan and Japan have shared a close connection -- but a connection with a complicated legacy. While many remember the injustices of Japan’s 50 years of colonial rule, others look back on the era with nostalgia. To explore this issue, we spoke with historian James Lin of the University of Washington.
