In the last quarter of 1995, GMA launched an early evening news program that distinguished itself from other newscasts by taking the viewers right to where the news is happening. The pace was brisk, the look was new, the language was easily understood and the response was overwhelming.
SAKSI became so popular in so short a time that people of all ages from all corners of the country were using the word as a catchphrase, complete with the pointed forefinger ala the program’s news anchors. But more than a craze, SAKSI succeeded in reaching out to the people with news that matter most to them and segments that addressed their needs and interests.
