Today in 1867, the British physicist and chemist Michael Faraday (Faraday) died. Faraday made major contributions to electro-magnetism and electro-chemistry. The foundation of electric motor technology was laid on the basis of his research on electro-magnetic rotary devices. He built the world's first transformer and first electric generator. Faraday had discovered a chemical called benzene.
