Hunt for U-479 - The Lost Boat

Two Finnish filmmakers and a team of international divers go in search of a WWII German U-boat and attempt to uncover the facts of a 60-year mystery. The U-479 went missing in November 1944, in the Gulf of Finland. Soviet sources claimed that their submarine, the Lembit sunk the boat, but the official story has never been considered a satisfactory explanation so the filmmakers decide to do some digging of their own.

The first episode introduces the filmmakers as they go in search of a technical diving and underwater camera team in Sweden. The team set out for Estonia, where they find the submarine Lembit, a vital part of the mystery of U-479. Maritime archeologists in Finland fill us in on the story of the Russian warship Russalka, while the Swedes go diving in Narvik. The team find the perfect boat for their quest, the Perlargonia and head to Germany to visit the U-boat archive in search of answers.
