Erich Warmer was a German WW2 veteran and recipient of the Iron Cross. Interviewed by Klovekorn the Relic Hunter in 2017, Herr Warmer provides a rare and insightful interview about his life as a Wehrmacht Soldier in WW2.

Losing his home, never to see his parents again, the end of the war sees him migrate to the other side of the world, South Australia, to start life over. Herr Warmer has not spoken of his experience in 80 years and we are all very fortunate he decided to undertake this interview, giving insights about his service in the 17th Panzer Division (Reconnaissance Battalion) and general views about the sinking of the Gustloff, farming life, the Hitler-Youth, award of his Iron Cross and how he came to South Australia.

Herr Warmer, was a deeply respected member of the Adelaide Hills He was driven through a street parade in a WW2 vehicle for his 100th Birthday. Herr Warmer passed away peacefully on 13th June 2022. Aged 102 years.
