The ex-chief of staff to former New South Wales Deputy Premier Joh Barilaro says his boss told him a New York trade post was the job he wanted when he left politics. Mark Connell has made a statement to the parliamentary inquiry, investigating the controversial appointment. Mr Connell claims that following a meeting with then treasurer Dominic Perrottet and tourism minister Stuart Ayres Mr Barilaro said the New York role was the job for when he was "out of place". New South Wales Opposition Leader Chris Minns has called on the Premier to clarify his own knowledge of the controversial appointment.
