44 Dead As Heavy Rainfall Wreaks Havoc In Assam And Meghalaya

North East states of Assam and Meghalaya received incessant rainfall triggering landslides in several areas. Over 75,000 residents in 18 districts of Assam are affected by the heavy rains. Two minors were buried alive in a landslide on Thursday in Assam’s Goalpora town. Parts of the National Highway 6 caved in due to landslides blocking vehicular movement. Efforts are underway to clear the highway and restore traffic. Assam has been receiving heavy rainfall since Monday night.
