Transgender Rohingya refugee fights prejudice with beauty

A minority within a minority, transgender Rohingya beautician Tanya faces discrimination on more fronts than most other residents at the world’s biggest refugee camp, Kutupalong. She fled Rakhine state in 2017 when Myanmar launched a deadly military crackdown on the Rohingya people, forcing many to flee across the border to Bangladesh.  Since arriving in Kutupalong, Tanya's skills have earned her a reputation as one of the best make-up artists in Cox's Bazar, helping her earn a decent wage.
