Inflation, power cuts: How Sri Lanka got dragged into crisis

Sri Lanka was earlier going through inflation and economic crisis and now it is burning in the fire of violence and riots, which started when supporters of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa who resigned on 9 May attacked anti-government protesters. After that the situation became so uncontrollable that Prime Minister Rajapaksa had to run for his life. When former Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family had to be rescued by helicopter from his official residence in Colombo, PM Rajapaksa and his family were taken to a naval base about 270 km from Colombo.
