The Miracle Dogs With A Second Shot At Life | BEASTIES

FONDLY KNOWN as "Imperfect Perfect", Picasso is a five-year-old pit bull, chihuahua and pomeranian mix who was born with a twisted snout due to a facial deformity called wry mouth. Picasso and his brother, Pablo, were living on the streets before being taken into a rescue centre in California. The pair were close to being put to sleep before they were saved by Liesl Hardt, who runs Luvable Dog Rescue. When Pablo unexpectedly passed away due to a suspected brain aneurysm in 2017, Liesl adopted Picasso personally after having made a special connection with the "miracle dog". Liesl's 55-acre rescue centre in Eugene, Oregon, offers sanctuary to many animals, including a pig named Pax, who quickly bonded with Picasso. Last year, the centre welcomed a new member to the family - a one-year-old canine named Newt who suffered an injury from his mother biting him and leaving him with no upper jaw. As soon as Newt arrived, he and Picasso became inseparable - the pair have become best friends as they are frequently spotted on social media playing or enjoying outings together. Since the organisation began in 1999, Luvable Dog Rescue has rescued and adopted over 2,000 dogs and hundreds of disabled animals, giving them a second chance at a happy life. Liesl said: "It's horrible to think what might've happened to them if they hadn't somehow found people willing to help."
