Jon Bernthal discusses his role as Sgt. Wayne Jenkins in HBO's "We Own This City," one of Baltimore's former elite cops from the Gun Trace Task Force (GTTF), who committed crimes while tasked with getting guns off the streets. Bernthal embedded with BPD, met victims of Sgt. Jenkins and communicated with Jenkins for the role. "I got to know everybody in his life, as many people as I could," Bernthal told Salon's D. Watkins. "Every single person said he was a committed father. He put his kids above everything else. That's something I can really relate to. I'm a father before I'm anything else. I needed a hook in to this character, something that I could relate to and kind of believe in."
