Woman And Her Friends Build DIY Outdoor Kitchen In Her Backyard

This woman with the help of her friends and family carried out a DIY outdoor kitchen project in her backyard. They together cut the wood to the required measurements and put the bottom frame together, similarly, they put together the top frame with the toenailing method. She later applied two coats of wood stain and three coats of polyacrylic to the countertop before cutting down the cedar planks to affix them onto the sides of the table. Once done, she sanded the entire fixture before painting it white.

00:00Today I'm going to be showing you how I made this outdoor kitchen. Now that the weather is so
00:04beautiful here in Texas, this setup is perfect for outdoor entertaining. I know I say this every time
00:08but this is my favorite project. All right let's get into it. All right y'all so I had to recruit
00:13some help. So everyone meet Carter. He is a superintendent in a construction site and
00:17this is his wife Kelly Grace. They are some of my best friends. So they came over one weekend
00:22and Carter helped me do all of the measurements and set up all of the framing.
00:26If you guys have been watching my videos for a while, you know that I am notoriously bad
00:31at measurements. So I learned lots of tips and tricks from Carter. I am so
00:35grateful for his help on this project.
00:56And I'm gonna put it behind my ear like a real pro. I'm gonna put it in my butt actually. There you go.
01:05Like that? Yep. I don't have big ears. How do we look like we're depressed? Whenever I cut it you have to go.
01:11Oh my god.
01:22Y'all seriously shout out to my friends for being the most awesome people. Davis and Jackie just
01:27came to hang out and we made a day out of it. So it was super fun. So after we made all the cuts,
01:32we laid out the framing and put it all together.
01:41So
01:42So
01:42So
01:43So
01:54So
02:09Once we connected all of the bottom frame, we used a method called toenailing, which I'd never
02:15heard of before, but Carter showed it to me, to put all the uprights to connect to the top frame.
02:25So
02:30Next we installed the top frame. We put the two by fours
02:33flat to give the countertop more surface area to connect to.
02:54So
03:13You guys, I was so proud of us for getting this framing done.
03:17Once we finished that, Carter took a level since the patio is sloped and Davis hopped in
03:23and they leveled the entire thing using blocks of wood screwed into the bottom of the frame.
03:42This was the moment of truth. I was so worried that the grill wasn't going to fit, but it fit
03:46perfectly. I then went and bought an edge glue panel from Lowe's and got it cut to size for the
04:00countertops. I then used the stain early American, my absolute favorite, and I did not have a glove,
04:12so I wrapped a garbage bag around my hand, but this stain color looks
04:16absolutely wonderful. I did two coats of stain and three coats of polyacrylic.
04:32Now it was time to cover the outside in cedar planks. So I'm cutting them all down to size
04:36and I recruited my dad to help me and he was getting on to me about using
04:41ear protection. And he is right, you guys. Safety first, always.
04:58We're gonna have some fun with this. This was my first time using a nail gun and you guys, I'm in love.
05:18That's real nice. Wow.
05:27That's nice. Real nice. Wow. That's gonna make that super fast. Look at that. Are you kidding me?
05:37Me and my birthday's coming up.
05:39So, I rented this nail gun, but I am definitely going to make this my next tool purchase. I am
05:48absolutely obsessed. It made this so quick and easy, but I'm going to tell you guys right now
05:54that we went around and put all of this cedar up, but there was a measurement error that I made
06:02that I thought wouldn't be a big deal and my dad warned me as we were doing this that we should
06:07stop and re-measure and fix it, but I was like, no, we'll just keep going. And when we got it all
06:14done, we had to take it all apart, you guys. Look at this. I was so upset. My dad warned me,
06:22but I told him, no, let's just keep going. And he let me because he was like, this is your project,
06:26but we got it all put back up together. It really was extra steps, but I'm so glad we did it right
06:33in the end. Next, I am just sanding everything down and getting it ready to paint.
06:50I am using a Valspar exterior paint in the color Osseago. It's the exact same color that I painted
06:56the exterior of my house. If you haven't seen that video, go check it out.
07:04And this is the final look, you guys. I absolutely love it. I am so excited for
07:09spring and summer and having my friends out here and hanging out.
