At least confirmed 148 dead after tropical storm Megi hits the central Philippines

The death toll from landslides and flooding triggered by tropical storm Megi in the Philippines rose to 148 on April 14, 2022, according to official figures. Known locally as Agaton, Megi hit central and southern parts of the country on April 10, bringing heavy rain that triggered secondary disasters including landslides and floods. Most of the lives lost were people who lived in villages now buried or caked in mud.
