Edit for headphones. The first Jagger/Richard composition. The source of this edit is on a Russian unofficial release: "The Rolling Stones No.2 + 8 bonus tracks" (CDM 1202-1039).
It is an early demo of "As Tears Go By". That song was first released as a single by Marianne Faithfull in June 1964, a #9 hit in the UK. The Rolling Stones released it as a single in December 1965, #1 in Canada, #2 in Australia, #3 in the US Cash Box, #6 US Billboard Hot 100, #8 in Germany, #22 in France. The song was released in the UK and in Holland in 1966 as the B-side to the single "19th Nervous Breakdown".
This one was recorded 11 March 1964 in the Warner Bros. De Lane Lea Studios, a recording studio, currently based in Dean Street, Soho, London, England.
Officially a Mick Jagger/Keith Richards/Andrew Loog Oldham composition (Oldham only later on changed the word "time" to "tears").
Vocals: Mick Jagger, 12-string guitar: James George Tomkins (aka Big Jim Sullivan).
