What is a Miqat?
The persons who wants to Baitullah for Hajj Umrah, have to pass through Miqat which are considered entry doors of Haram. Miqat is the place where persons going to Hajj Umrah do Ihraam. Miqat is the place where persons going to Hajj Umrah do Ihraam. The word meqat is singular, the plural of which is muwaqayt. There are two types of meeqat, one is called meeqat zamani. This refers to the times when Hajj is not valid except at other times. The second type is called Meeqat Makani. Obedience to the meeqat is obligatory for both Hajj and Umrah Pilgrims. Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Islamic Affairs has built mosques for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims at Meeqat sites.
Number of Miqat in Saudia?
There are seven meeqats, five of which were prescribed by the Prophet of Islam, while two have been determined later. It is not permissible for a believer to travel to the Masjid al-Haram, Makkah, without ihram from one of these meeqats. All these miqat are located in different surroundings of Mecca. Mean each situated in different area.
Ihram from where?
The meeqat of those who live within the scope of this meeqat is the place where they are settled. Such people are obliged to enter ihram from these places. The meeqat of the people of Makkah is their house or Masjid al-Haram. For Umrah, they have to enter ihraam from outside Makkah (called al-hul). Visitors coming from places where the meeqat does not take place, their meeqat is the place opposite to any other meeqat. Location of each Miqat & who do Ihram niyah from there?
Miqat Yalumlum
Yilmalm is a hill in south of Jeddah with a settlement called Saadia. It is located at south of Makkah. This is the meeqat of the people of Yemen and those who pass through this path. These include the Ahl al-Asir, the inhabitants of southern Hijaz. In the recent past, when the people of the subcontinent used to come for Hajj by sea, it was also a meeqat for pilgrims from Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. The same has happened to the people of Indonesia, Malaysia and China.
Miqat Zul-Halifa
This meeqat is known as Abar Ali. This is the meeqat of the people of Madinah. It is eight kilometers away from the city center. This is also the meeqat of the pilgrims who pass through here and are not citizens of Madinah. Zul-Halifah is about 433 km from Makkah and 450 km from Masjid-ul-Haram. If the pilgrims coming from Pakistan go to Madinah, then on the way from Madinah to Mecca, there will be a meeqat of Zul-Halifa, which is also the meeqat of the people of Madinah.
Miqat Qarn-ul-Manazil
Qarn al-Manazal is the meeqat of the people of Najd, Al-Ahsa, Iraq, the Gulf Arab states and Bahrain. It is also called Qarn al-Thaalib.
