Bhagavad Gita 2.32-39

Arjuna was a famous fighter, and he won fame by fighting and conquering many great demigods, including even Lord Siva. If he abandoned the battle at Kuruksetra, not only would he neglect his specific duty as a kṣatriya, but his good name would be besmirched and he would thus prepare his royal road to hell. In other words, he would go to hell not by fighting but by withdrawing from the battle.
