Abhinaya Dance Academy

Dancers from Abhinaya Dance Academy light up the Hidden Gardens ahead of their performances at Dance International Glasgow’s Spring Season this March and April. They perform in Pancha Dala (Five Petals) on Saturday 5 March (5.30pm - 7.30pm, £11.50/£8.50) and the Abhinaya Dance Academy perform in Arangetram on Sunday 6 March 2022 (2pm - 6pm, free but ticketed).

Traditional Indian dancers from Abhinaya Dance Academy perform harmonised movements from their traditional dance performance Pancha Dala (Five Petals). All dancers will be dressed in boldly coloured ‘Bharatanatyam’ costumes which are similar to a sari but with multiple pieces of cloth.

Abhinaya Dance Academy (ADA) is a Glasgow based charity organisation which promotes South Asian Arts & Culture. ADA has more than 150 dance & music students who are led and trained by Smt Esther Sunija Binu. ADA dancers have performed at events including Paisley Mela, Celtic Connections, the Paisley 2021 cultural bid film production, TransPennine Express TV advert and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. This photocall celebrates DIG Spring Season, a new 2022 addition following the return of the main biennial festival in October 2022. Featuring a clutch of performances, the new season comes to the city's Tramway and other venues across the city as well as online from 1 March until 3 April.

Offering a snapshot of some of the most exciting dance artists creating work in Scotland today alongside artists from across the UK and the wider world, performances will be presented live indoors, outdoors and online, accompanied by a programme of workshops.
