For the first time in Tamil Nadu, a transgender woman has won a civic election, a transgender woman named Ganga has won the recently concluded urban local body election in the state. The 39-year-old from Vellore district, Tamil Nadu, R. Ganga (R. Ganga) has become the first transgender woman (Transgender) parishioner of the state, she has won the urban body elections. Ganga had contested on a DMK ticket from Ward 37 of Vellore City Municipal Corporation (VCMC). He got a total of 2,131 votes in this election.
