Man Gives Tutorial on How to Make LED Infinity Mirror Coffee Table

This artisan wanted to teach people how to make an infinity mirror coffee table. He used a simple picture frame for the platform but covered the glass with a double-sided mirror coating film. Then he proceeded to add some LED lights to create the infinity effect and finally added the legs to the table for an amazing finished product.

00:00 What's up everybody? I'm Alice from Malice in Wonderland Studios and today I'm going to do a tutorial on how to build your own mirror infinity coffee table.
00:11 This is what you need. First, we're going to cheat. So we're going to use a picture frame. We need two panes of glass. One of them is going to be mirror.
00:20 You could either use a regular piece of glass, which we are going to coat with the same kind of coating that you use window tinting. That also makes a two-way mirror, which we call mirror pane.
00:32 You're going to need LED lights. In this case, we're using 5 volt LED lights. A controller. This one's going to be remote control.
00:41 And as far as the wood, we're going to be using 3/4 by 2 1/2 inch here and an inch and a half on that one. And then of course, you're going to need your legs.
00:53 All right, let's get started.
00:54 Okay, so first we're going to take this piece of glass here and we're going to make it into a two-way mirror using film.
01:02 Can't have an infinity mirror without a two-way mirror.
01:10 So there's instructions on the box. If you wanted to go to buy decorative film dot com, you could buy that. There's your plug.
01:20 (sound of glass breaking)

02:29 All right, so that's one way to do it. It's kind of the cheaper way to go. We just turned glass into two-way mirror.
02:37 And the glass actually comes with the picture frame, so it's easy to do, cost effective.
02:44 What I like to do, because it's a little bit higher quality, is I go to my glass shop and I get what's called mirror pane.
02:53 That's the same stuff that they use in like a police lineup window. It's pretty expensive, but it's exactly what we just did.
03:00 So now let's put it together.
03:02 All right, so here we are. We're going to put the first pane of glass in there. The more reflective side is going to go towards us.
03:13 Because we want the darker side on top. That's where you're going to view through.
03:21 And then we're putting the lights in the middle. And the way that an infinity mirror works, the magic comes because the lights are in between the mirrors, which creates that infinity effect.
03:31 I'll put a link on where to get these LED lights from. They're about 50 bucks a roll for the good stuff.
03:42 [Sound of glass being put together]
04:05 I'm going to take our controller here and modify it. We don't have a plug like this, so we're going to make one. We're going to solder it.
04:16 [Sound of solder being put together]
04:44 [Sound of solder being put together]
04:52 So for this controller, I'm using the LED2013X. It's got 300 different effects and they're pretty cheap.
05:03 Now it's four wires, so make sure that when you get your LED lights, you get the four circuit.
05:10 [Sound of solder being put together]
05:29 All right, now that we've got the soldering out of the way, let's make sure that it works before we put it together.
05:39 So we've got our 5 volt power adapter. You're probably going to need a 10 amp to be safe.
05:45 All right, we're in business. Let's put it together.
05:52 [Sound of soldering being put together]
06:16 So one thing that you really want to do is clean both sides of both pieces of mirror really well.
06:28 Anything that's going to be in here is going to be stuck in there.
06:32 [Sound of soldering being put together]
06:41 You can take your other mirror. This is just a regular quarter inch mirror.
06:46 [Sound of soldering being put together]
07:15 [Sound of soldering being put together]
07:23 And we want to make sure that this thing is put in there pretty well. I like to put a bead of silicone.
07:30 [Sound of soldering being put together]
07:40 A little protection, you can put the picture backing back on.
07:45 [Sound of soldering being put together]
07:48 And now it sits flush and we're going to mount our legs here.
07:52 And this is going to sit over there.
07:55 [Sound of soldering being put together]
08:00 Let's see how it looks.
08:01 [Sound of soldering being put together]
08:15 Alright.
08:18 That's on the front.
08:20 [Sound of soldering being put together]
08:32 [Sound of soldering being put together]
09:01 [Sound of soldering being put together]
09:28 [Sound of soldering being put together]
09:43 [Sound of soldering being put together]
10:05 [Sound of soldering being put together]
10:20 Alright, so we got our base here. You saw how I did that.
10:26 Now we're going to sand it and get it ready to mount and then we can paint it.
10:32 And that's that.
10:34 [Silence while they work on the base]
11:02 Looks like we got a pretty good match here but we're still overlapping.
11:06 It's about a fraction of an inch so we're just going to do a little light sand on this.
