Putin has recognized the independence of Russia-backed separatists in Ukraine. Putin said that Ukraine is an integral part of Russia. President Putin signed and formally announced the recognition of both Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics as independent republics of Ukraine. After which it is believed that the remaining hope of a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia has also ended.

पुतिन ने यूक्रेन में रूस समर्थित अलगाववादियों की स्वतंत्रता को मान्यता दे दी है। पुतिन ने कहा कि, यूक्रेन रूस का एक अभिन्न अंग है। राष्ट्रपति पुतिन ने हस्ताक्षर कर औपचारिक रूप से लुगांस्क और डोनेट्स्क पीपुल्स रिपब्लिक दोनों को यूक्रेन के स्वतंत्र गणराज्यों के रूप में मान्यता देने की घोषणा की। जिसके बाद माना जा रहा है कि, यूक्रेन और रूस के बीच शांति समझौते की बची उम्मीद भी खत्म हो गई है।
