Surge in anxiety among young people after pandemic

Crisis lines received record numbers of calls from people needing support in 2021. One anxiety-specific helpline reported a rise of over 220 per cent. Professor Roger Wilkins is the lead author of the annual Hilda Survey which has followed the lives of more than 17,000 Australians over the past 20 years. He says there's been a particularly large spike in diagnosed depression and anxiety among young people since 2011.
