Lata Mangeshkar, the melodious voice that sang over 20,000 songs in 36 Indian languages, over a career spanning eight decades, has died due to Covid-19 complications. She breathed her last in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital at 08:12am on February 6, after being ill for over two weeks with Covid-19 infection. She has voiced Bollywood’s most songs from Mughal-e-azam, Baiju Bawra, Pakeezah, Silsila, and many many more. The Indian government has announced two days of national mourning, in respect of the legendary singer’s passing. The national flag will also fly at half-mast.
