00:00:00Cradled within the arms of the rivers Ganges and Brahmaputra to the south, and the mysterious
00:00:12plateau of Tibet to the north, majestically stands the mightiest mountain range on the
00:00:18face of the earth, the Himalaya.
00:00:26This is the story of an expedition to this rugged barrier, not to assault on its windswept
00:00:31towering heights, but to find and study plant life which had heretofore been unknown or
00:00:37inaccessible.
00:00:38This is the story of that mission, of how a small group of people found themselves in
00:00:47pursuit of a crude and primitive civilization which once only existed as a figment of the
00:00:52imagination.
00:01:20I'm from Los Angeles, California, and after careful study of the region, the first leg
00:01:51From there I proceeded to the town of Shekhar, the last settlement before entering the wilderness
00:02:10of rock and ice.
00:02:21There I selected ten Sherpa natives to serve as porters.
00:02:25My name is Parrish, Dr. Frank Parrish.
00:02:29By profession, I am a botanist working for the Corrie Foundation.
00:02:34To record the visual log of our expedition, I engaged Peter Wells, well qualified to serve
00:02:40as a photographer.
00:02:42As our guide, I hired Subra, the only English-speaking Sherpa acquainted with the terrain.
00:02:57Only the most essential equipment was selected and distributed among the members of our party.
00:03:07With all preparations completed and everything on schedule, at noon on June 14th, we set
00:03:13out to strike at the mountain.
00:03:17Subra's young wife, Tala, and his brother, Leva, accompanied us to the foot of the mountains
00:03:22before saying good-bye.
00:03:48The first days were uneventful, monotonous, and tedious, but as we moved onto higher regions,
00:04:11the terrain became more rugged and difficult.
00:04:16Wells and I kept up with the Sherpas, who were much like human mules under the weight
00:04:21of our heavy supplies.
00:04:26We continued on to a height of 10,000 feet above sea level, where I wanted to commence
00:04:31my work.
00:04:34At last, on the day, we reached the plateau region.
00:04:42Subra, have your men pitch the tents.
00:04:55Up to this point, having established only temporary camps, everyone was eager for our
00:05:00first hot meal.
00:05:02Camp one was now well-established.
00:05:07Except for a variety of common moss and crucifer flower, we found little of interest, but we
00:05:14decided to comb the area more thoroughly for the next few days.
00:05:18How about a shot?
00:05:21No, thanks.
00:05:22Excuse me, Mr. Doctor.
00:05:23Everything all right?
00:05:24Can't bore to see that.
00:05:25Everything's fine, Subra.
00:05:27How come?
00:05:28Good.
00:05:29Fine?
00:05:31Yeah.
00:05:32Help yourself.
00:05:35Thank you, Mr. Doctor.
00:05:41Wells?
00:05:43I'm no doctor.
00:05:47Want anything?
00:05:50No, thank you, Subra.
00:05:55I'll see you later.
00:05:56I've fixed a nice, hot supper.
00:06:01A wonderful tonic. Warms up the gizzards.
00:06:04Keep that up and you'll pickle your gizzard.
00:06:07Wells, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't hand out that stuff to any of the men.
00:06:11And don't drink in their presence, understand?
00:06:14Okay. Suits me.
00:06:17Shekhar, come in. Come in, Shekhar.
00:06:20This is Dr. Parrish.
00:06:21This is Shekhar. Yes, doctor.
00:06:24Let me speak to Inspector Karma, please.
00:06:27We'll get Inspector Karma.
00:06:30That night, all seemed well in the town of Shekhar.
00:06:55Oh, no!

00:08:22Mr. Doctor, please.
00:08:24Let's go to Mr. Doctor.
00:08:40Mr. Doctor.
00:08:41Mr. Doctor.
00:08:42Oh, Subaru, what is it?
00:08:44Yeti.
00:08:45Yeti, Mr. Doctor.
00:08:47Yeti!
00:08:48What's all the noise?
00:08:51My brother, Eva.
00:08:52He come with four men.
00:08:55They followed us all the way up here?
00:08:56What do they want?
00:08:57Brother say, Yeti steal my woman, Tara.
00:09:01We leave. Go after Yeti.
00:09:03Yeti, Yeti, what is this?
00:09:06Yeti, creature of snow.
00:09:07Snow giant.
00:09:09Oh, you mean the abominable snowman.
00:09:11The phantom of the Himalayas.
00:09:12Marauder of women.
00:09:15We go after Yeti.
00:09:16Find him.
00:09:18Oh, the newspapers and magazines have carried stories about it from time to time.
00:09:23Yeah, the sherpas have built this creature into a horror story.
00:09:27This isn't a hunting party.
00:09:28Thousands of dollars have been spent to finance this expedition.
00:09:31And he wants to chase a legend.
00:09:33Mr. Doctor, Yeti real, Mr. Doctor.
00:09:35No one's ever seen one.
00:09:37Oh, I know people who brought back stories about these semi-humans.
00:09:41Oh, the whole thing sounds fantastic.
00:09:43Brother say, Yeti steal Tara.
00:09:46I'm sorry, Subra.
00:09:48Have your brother and his men join us if they want to.
00:09:50But we have other work to do.
00:10:16Because of my decision, I felt that Subra resented and disliked me.
00:11:17What do you think is going on out there?
00:11:27That sounds like Subra trying to be very important.
00:11:31I'd better find out.
00:11:47Subra!
00:11:54Well?
00:11:56I don't want to interrupt you.
00:11:57What do you mean?
00:12:00Subra, I want to talk to you.
00:12:02Talk.
00:12:03What's the meaning of this? I gave no order to break camp.
00:12:05You move.
00:12:06I'll tell you when to move.
00:12:07We move now.
00:12:09Subra, what's come over you?
00:12:11You sent some of our men away, didn't you?
00:12:13Only four of our men.
00:12:15Only four of our men.
00:12:16The other four belong to Brother Lever.
00:12:18I'm concerned with our men. Now come back.
00:12:20They look this side of the mountain.
00:12:22We look the other side for Yeti.
00:12:25I'll shoot any man who doesn't obey.
00:12:28You know who can shoot.
00:12:32Empton, we're taking our coin with you.
00:12:37Subra, this is mutiny.
00:12:39Subra, take guns.
00:12:41All right.
00:12:43Where do you intend to look for this creature?
00:12:45Everybody look at Rocky Valley Legion.
00:12:48That's ridiculous.
00:12:49This part is not equipped for that kind of thing.
00:12:51Subra, no care.
00:12:54Well, may as well let them go.
00:12:56There's no point in our following along.
00:12:58We might as well come back.
00:12:59Turn back.
00:13:00No can find the way.
00:13:01We move now.
00:13:10Well, I think I need a drink.
00:13:12You'll need more than that.
00:13:16Wait a minute.
00:13:17What about the radio?
00:13:19I doubt that's an idea.
00:13:28Get packed.
00:13:29We move right away.
00:13:30Come on.
00:13:31Come on.
00:13:33Whether Wells and I liked it or not,
00:13:35we had no alternative but to follow along.
00:13:42Come on.
00:14:12Come on.
00:14:13Come on.
00:14:43Take it easy, Wells.
00:14:54Wait a minute.
00:14:55Did you hear something?
00:14:58No, it's just the ruddy wind.
00:15:07I think this is it.
00:15:09Give me some light.
00:15:11Oh, it's my Scotch.
00:15:13Never mind that now.
00:15:22There it is.
00:15:28Let's hope they haven't been monkeying with it.
00:15:32Looks all right.
00:15:40Wait a minute.
00:15:44It's okay, go ahead.
00:16:02Shekhar, come in.
00:16:06Come in, Shekhar.
00:16:09Shekhar, come in.
00:16:11Shekhar, come in.
00:16:17Subra!
00:16:18Subra only wants to kill a radio machine.
00:16:40Where's the Scotch?
00:16:43No, wait a minute.
00:16:44That's my personal property.
00:16:45Take it easy, Wells.
00:16:46Subra likes alcohol.
00:16:54Mr. Doctor, better go to sleep now.
00:16:56Big walk tomorrow.
00:16:58You too.
00:16:59Take it easy, Wells.

00:17:23I'll get it to work.
00:17:25We'll get the Shekhar police.
00:17:26Oh, I hope so.
00:17:29Wells.
00:17:32Have yourself a nightcap.
00:17:35I'll be right back.
00:17:37Oh, thanks, old boy.
00:17:38I will.
00:18:02I found that the radio could be repaired.
00:18:07Wells' case of Scotch gave me an idea.
00:18:37You're welcome.
00:18:53What was that?
00:18:56I didn't hear anything.
00:19:00There it is again.
00:19:02Oh, it's just the wind.
00:19:04The altitude is getting on your nerves.
00:19:06My nerves are all right.
00:19:09I better take a look.
00:19:36Oh, arigato.
00:19:41We move now.
00:19:42Don't you think you had enough last night?
00:19:45Come on.
00:19:46Come on.
00:19:47Mr. Doctor.

00:20:29No one mentioned the radio machine's dead.
00:20:50♪♪
00:20:58♪♪
00:21:06♪♪
00:21:14♪♪

00:22:37♪♪
00:22:47♪♪
00:22:52Even Subra could not fight the darkness.
00:22:55At sundown, he ordered the men to make camp.
00:22:58♪♪
00:23:08I still think it was a pretty mean trick,
00:23:11leaving my tonic behind.
00:23:13The tubes are all right, but the wires are broken.
00:23:16Oh, now you'll find out after depriving me of my...
00:23:19Wait a minute.
00:23:23All right, go ahead.
00:23:29-♪♪
00:23:34-♪♪
00:23:46He's dead.
00:23:48♪♪
00:23:58I couldn't rest.
00:24:00The legend, the abduction of Subra's wife,
00:24:04the footprints, the death of a native.
00:24:08All these things began to fall into a mysterious pattern.
00:24:12♪♪
00:24:22♪♪
00:24:32♪♪
00:24:42♪♪
00:24:52♪♪
00:25:02♪♪
00:25:12♪♪
00:25:21Looks like it's over.
00:25:23We were lucky, weren't we?
00:25:25I'll say we were.
00:25:27Let's go, let's go.
00:25:29Let's go.
00:25:31Let's go.
00:25:34♪♪
00:25:44♪♪
00:25:54♪♪
00:26:04♪♪
00:26:11Come on in.
00:26:13Easy Q.K.
00:26:20We've reached here.
00:26:22Yeah, this...
00:26:24This altitude is beginning to get me.
00:26:27We're getting pretty high up.
00:26:30Probably be needing oxygen soon.
00:26:33♪♪
00:26:39Storm come, need to find a shelter.
00:26:42Crowd's dark.
00:26:44♪♪
00:26:54♪♪
00:27:01Look over there.
00:27:03Cave.
00:27:06How long will it take us to get down there?
00:27:08One hour.
00:27:10Maybe two.
00:27:12Let's go.
00:27:14Hurry, hurry.
00:27:19Hurry.
00:27:21♪♪
00:27:31♪♪
00:27:41♪♪
00:27:51♪♪
00:28:01♪♪
00:28:11♪♪
00:28:21♪♪
00:28:26♪♪
00:28:36♪♪
00:28:45Lucky thing for us we found this place.
00:28:48Yeah, it would have been impossible in the tents with this weather.
00:28:56So, Brock.
00:28:59Yes?
00:29:01A minute, a minute.
00:29:04You know, you could be a very famous man.
00:29:08Oh, yes?
00:29:09Yeah.
00:29:12If we did find this Yeti and...
00:29:15brought him back to America alive.
00:29:18I only want to kill a Yeti.
00:29:22Suppose you did kill one.
00:29:24How would you know it's the one you're after?
00:29:28If there's one Yeti, there must be a whole civilization or a whole tribe of them.
00:29:33If they kill all the Yeti, I don't care.
00:29:38How far up do you intend to go?
00:29:40To the top of Everest or Annapurna?
00:29:43Maybe, yes.
00:29:46Where are these creatures?
00:29:48Why has no one ever seen one?
00:29:51Yeti, him hide.
00:29:53When smell human.
00:29:55But Yeti come low country when want to steal woman.
00:29:59Always want to steal woman.
00:30:03We'll go until we find Yeti.
00:30:08I think we go sleep now.
00:30:13Oh.
00:30:15You know, thank you.
00:30:26Move over, Macduff.
00:30:32It's too bad.
00:30:33What's too bad?
00:30:36I tried to get to that radio, but it's one of the Sherpas packs.
00:30:41Well, we just have to wait until we see a better opportunity.
00:30:46Right now, I'm going to forget it and go to bed.
00:30:49Good.
00:31:10What is it, Zulu?
00:31:11This building, Tala, my woman.
00:31:16Tala.
00:31:17Tala.
00:31:19Yeti bring Tala here.
00:31:22We go find Tala.
00:31:23Tala.
00:31:25I realized that the snow creature was not just a legend.
00:31:29I consoled myself to the thought that finding one
00:31:32would more than compensate for my failure as a botanist.
00:31:44Subra was a man possessed.
00:31:46He split the party, ordering the men to search the tunnels
00:31:49and to meet at the entrance of the cave.
00:31:54Tala.
00:31:55Tala.
00:32:15Tala.
00:32:25Now, this place gives me the creeps.
00:32:28It's not the most cheerful place in the world.
00:32:31It's only an animal of some kind.
00:32:34Subra.
00:32:36What is it?
00:32:37Nothing.
00:32:38Let's go.
00:32:51Hey, Mac.
00:32:52What is it?
00:32:53What do you think?
00:33:23Yeti.
00:33:25No.
00:33:31Tala.
00:33:32Tala.
00:33:47Yeti.
00:33:48Yeti.
00:33:49Yeti.
00:33:50Yeti.
00:33:51Yeti.
00:33:52Yeti.
00:33:58He's only stunned.
00:34:00He's not dead.
00:34:06I'll give him a hypo to keep him quiet.
00:34:09Get a tarp and we'll carry him in that.
00:34:11Go on.
00:34:15We found that the female and child of the snow creature
00:34:18had been killed by the cave in.
00:34:20We held Subra and Leva at gunpoint
00:34:24and ordered them to carry the creature back
00:34:26to the entrance of the cave
00:34:27to meet the rest of the sherpas.
00:34:32Subra.
00:34:33Tell your men to put up their hands.
00:34:39Wells, get that gun.
00:34:41One false move and I'll shoot.
00:34:43Tell that man to put the radio down.
00:34:47I'll try to get the Shekhar police.
00:34:50Come on.
00:34:56Unable to establish contact with Shekhar,
00:34:58we started down, determined to bring the creature back alive.
00:35:20Wells.
00:35:47Wells and I took turns watching.
00:35:50to make certain that nothing went wrong.
00:36:20We managed to keep the creature in a semi-conscious state, allowing him to come to only enough
00:36:41to take food.
00:36:48So on the fifth day, we reached the lowland region.
00:36:58On the seventh day, as we were nearing the town of Shekhar, I decided to herd the native
00:37:03straight to the police.
00:37:36Your discovery is of a very unusual nature, but it belongs to you, and you are free to
00:37:41do with it as you wish.
00:37:43The inspector kept repeating how friendly his country was and how it welcomed scientists,
00:37:48explorers, and so on.
00:37:50I am sure you will accept my government's apologies, and the natives will be held in
00:37:55custody here for taking the law into their own hands.
00:38:01By the way, can I keep the creature here until I can arrange for his transportation?
00:38:07Of course.
00:38:08Of course, you'll have to be fed.
00:38:09And, uh, could you give him an injection every six hours?
00:38:13Yes, we shall do that.
00:38:15Oh, by the way, your guide wishes to speak with you.
00:38:19Subra?
00:38:20Yes.
00:38:21Well, send him in.
00:38:22Wait.
00:38:23Subra, thread the coin.
00:38:24Mr. Doctor.
00:38:25Subra.
00:38:26Subra no understand law.
00:38:28No can say if this yeti steal my woman.
00:38:32Nobody know.
00:38:34Inspector Karma, I won't defer charges against these people.
00:38:39Uche katte miinde seyo.
00:38:41Thank you, Mr. Doctor.
00:38:44Oh, forget it.
00:38:45Forget it.
00:38:46Moshi moshi.
00:38:48Hai.
00:38:49Hai.
00:38:50Your telephone call.
00:38:51Will you take it in the next room?
00:38:53Oh, fine.
00:38:54Come on, boss.
00:38:55Hai.
00:38:57Hai.
00:38:58Yes, that's the idea.
00:39:00And please send the refrigerator unit as quickly as possible.
00:39:03Fine.
00:39:04Fine.
00:39:05I'm leaving for Bombay immediately to take care of all the arrangements.
00:39:08You can reach me there, let's see, in care of the TWA office.
00:39:12Well, good.
00:39:13Oh, uh, will you please call my wife and tell her I'll be home soon?
00:39:18Good.
00:39:20They're sending us a refrigerator unit to transport the creature in.
00:39:24An air-conditioned affair.
00:39:26What's the matter with you?
00:39:28Well, I don't like this whole thing.
00:39:30What do you mean?
00:39:32Well, it's just this.
00:39:33I could get two or three thousand pounds for that photograph I took,
00:39:36and we should split that money between us.
00:39:38As far as the creature's concerned, well, we should sell him, and then the...
00:39:41The photograph, do what you want with it.
00:39:43It's for the creature.
00:39:44He's going to the Corey Foundation, where he belongs.
00:39:46You've just got no business sense.
00:39:48An opportunity like this comes once in a lifetime, and you don't...
00:39:52Did your telephone call come out all right for you?
00:39:54Oh, yes, thank you.
00:39:55Clare as a bell.
00:39:56I have to leave for Bombay right away, but I'll be back in a few days.
00:39:59Would you see that nobody comes near the creature, including Mr. Wells?
00:40:10According to this cable, your temperature-controlled unit
00:40:12should be here on our cargo flight at 8.40 this evening.
00:40:15Now, the cable says to handle it with the utmost care.
00:40:18Yes, it's very delicate.
00:40:19We'll have to rush it to Shekhar.
00:40:21I've already made all the arrangements to send it and the documents to you.
00:40:24And we'll take care of all other formalities.
00:40:27Thank you very much.
00:40:47We followed your instructions.
00:40:49The injections worked fine.
00:40:51Here he is.
00:40:54Now, let's see.
00:40:57This unit will keep the motor running en route.
00:41:00This is the temperature control.
00:41:03And the self-contained oxygen unit.
00:41:05Food traps.
00:41:07Oh, yes, the food traps.
00:41:09You Americans.
00:41:10Manufacturing a contraption like this on a phone call.
00:41:14Well, I'd better get going.
00:41:16Thank you very much, Inspector Cobb.
00:41:17Have a good trip back to California.
00:42:27Hello, Frank.
00:42:29Darling.
00:42:34Hello, Mr. Corey.
00:42:35Glad to see you. How are you?
00:42:37Well, instead of flowers, I brought you a Yeti.
00:42:39That's what the natives call him.
00:42:40Where is he now?
00:42:41He should be here. I sent him ahead on a cargo plane.
00:42:43Really?
00:42:44Which one of you is Dr. Perry?
00:42:45I am.
00:42:46Hold on to the pretty girl, doctor, and give us a big smile.
00:42:50I'm the chronicle doctor.
00:42:51Have you heard the story about the snowman?
00:42:53Just a minute. I just got here.
00:42:54I haven't even talked to my wife.
00:42:55No, gentlemen.
00:42:56You can reach Dr. Perry at the foundation later.
00:42:59Dr. Frank Parrish.
00:43:00Dr. Frank Parrish.
00:43:02Please report to the customs warehouse.
00:43:04Which way is it?
00:43:05Well, it's easy enough to find out.
00:43:06Come on.
00:43:08Excuse me, gentlemen.
00:43:09I'll talk to you later.
00:43:18Well, there it is, darling.
00:43:19Mr. Corey, what do you think of it?
00:43:21Amazing.
00:43:22Absolutely amazing.
00:43:24I see where you classify your import as a snow creature.
00:43:28That's right.
00:43:29Well, it's necessary that we clarify its immigration status.
00:43:33Immigration status?
00:43:34I don't understand.
00:43:36Well, the question is, is it a beast or a man?
00:43:39Well, he's not human, if that's what you mean.
00:43:41Do you know, Mr. Peter Wells,
00:43:43if a man is a beast,
00:43:45he's not a human.
00:43:46If that's what you mean.
00:43:48Do you know Mr. Peter Wells?
00:43:49Yes, he's my photographer.
00:43:52This article came to our attention.
00:43:54Mr. Wells refers to your discovery as the snowman.
00:44:02Well, that's ridiculous.
00:44:04Wells is a photographer.
00:44:05He's reaching for sensations.
00:44:07This creature is definitely not human.
00:44:09Mr. Fleet,
00:44:10certainly your department isn't going to take this photographer's word literally.
00:44:14Well, this is a very unusual case.
00:44:16This is a very unusual find.
00:44:18Do you realize what this means to science?
00:44:21That's why our department was interested enough
00:44:23to contact a prominent anthropologist, Dr. Louis DuPont.
00:44:26Dr. DuPont?
00:44:27Of course, I've heard of him.
00:44:29He should be well qualified to substantiate Dr. Parrish.
00:44:32Unfortunately, he can't be here until 7 o'clock tonight.
00:44:35You will be in my office at 7 o'clock.
00:44:38Of course.
00:44:39This will have to stay in the warehouse until then.
00:44:41We've studied the instructions on the refrigerator
00:44:43to be properly connected.
00:44:44Well, I guess it'll just have to wait.
00:44:46We'll see you at 7.
00:44:47Come on, Doc.
00:44:58What an unusual specimen.
00:45:02The department's main interest
00:45:04is to classify this specimen, as you call it, as not being human.
00:45:08Dr. Parrish?
00:45:09Yes, may I?
00:45:10Of course.
00:45:11I'm a little lonely.
00:45:12That's all right.
00:45:13Dr. Parrish, Dr. DuPont.
00:45:14Oh, how do you do?
00:45:15How do you do, Doctor?
00:45:16Has Mr. Corey been here?
00:45:17Not yet.
00:45:18Won't you sit down?
00:45:19Well, thank you.
00:45:20Cigarette?
00:45:21Well, thank you.
00:45:23What an unusual find for a botanist to make.
00:45:26Yes, it is.
00:45:28And you say you also saw a female and a child?
00:45:33That's right.
00:45:34Have you seen the specimen I brought back?
00:45:36No, not yet.
00:45:37Well, we will as soon as Mr. Corey arrives.
00:45:39He called and he should be here any minute.
00:45:45I have said this creature is not human.
00:45:48I didn't say he was.
00:45:50I have to determine whether his brain is a calculating brain.
00:45:55And from that, narrow down all of the theories.
00:45:58We must have one definite classification.
00:46:01Yes, I understand.
00:46:03From what we know of these, shall I say, snow creatures,
00:46:08they have been a legend.
00:46:11We have seen abstract drawings and heard stories of these nomads,
00:46:16but they were always associated with human traits.
00:47:08Excuse me.
00:47:10Wait speaking.
00:47:12What?
00:47:13How?
00:47:14We'll be right over.
00:47:16The creature has escaped.
00:47:17What?
00:47:18Let's get over to the warehouse.
00:47:24He started to move in that thing.
00:47:26Then he started to shake it.
00:47:27And it fell.
00:47:28And it fell.
00:47:29And it fell.
00:47:30And it fell.
00:47:31And it fell.
00:47:32And it fell.
00:47:33And it fell.
00:47:34And it fell.
00:47:35And it fell.
00:47:36And it fell.
00:47:37And it fell.
00:47:38He got out, and I started to run for my life.
00:47:40A side I'll never forget.
00:47:42He come at me, and I...
00:47:45Mr. Fleisch?
00:47:46I'm Mr. Fleisch.
00:47:47I'm Lieutenant Dunbar, police.
00:47:49This is Doctor Duchronomous, Doctor Parrish.
00:47:51What's this all about?
00:48:00Aaah!
00:48:07You'll have to give us a description.
00:48:32Right.
00:48:33Where's the phone?
00:48:34Right over there.
00:48:35Come on, Doctor.
00:48:36Send it to the department firsthand.
00:48:39That's all, Evan.
00:48:41Send it out right away.
00:48:44Would you come with me a moment, Doctor?
00:48:47Certainly.
00:48:48Quite extraordinary, Doctor.
00:48:49Department.
00:48:50Car 61.
00:48:51Come in, Lieutenant Dunbar.
00:48:52Car 61.
00:48:53Come in, Lieutenant Dunbar.
00:48:54Dunbar, go ahead.
00:48:55Body of a girl found on the alley back of 1220 Coe Street.
00:49:01Repeat.
00:49:02An alley back there.
00:49:05an alley back of 1220 Coe Street.
00:49:08Over.
00:49:09Got it. Out.
00:49:11You hear that, Doctor?
00:49:12I'd better come along.
00:49:13I think you'd better.
00:49:14Oh, Mr. Bleak!
00:49:16When Mr. Corey gets here,
00:49:17brief him on everything, will you?
00:49:18I'll see you later.
00:49:35♪♪
00:49:45♪♪
00:50:05♪♪
00:50:15♪♪
00:50:25Hello, Lieutenant.
00:50:27What's doing, Richards?
00:50:29I thought you were through for the day.
00:50:31Looked that way, didn't it?
00:50:32Any news from the wife?
00:50:34Something wrong?
00:50:35My wife and I are having a baby, that's all.
00:50:37Oh, is that all?
00:50:39This way.
00:50:45Oh, thank you, Johnny.
00:50:49Oh, let's see.
00:50:55This is the warehouse.
00:50:58Over here is Coe Street, where the girl was killed.
00:51:02The distance from here to here is about, say,
00:51:05uh, three miles.
00:51:07Yeah, go on.
00:51:09Well, it's strange to me that nobody reported seeing him
00:51:12from the time he left the warehouse
00:51:13till he arrived at Coe Street.
00:51:15Out of his way, hardly anybody on the streets.
00:51:17I guess so.
00:51:19He's got to be stopped.
00:51:22Stopped, Lieutenant, but not killed.
00:51:25Is there something else you can tell us about him, Doctor?
00:51:28His mentality, his habits?
00:51:29Something?
00:51:31Well, he's acclimated to a high altitude, low temperature.
00:51:36We know all that.
00:51:45Send out this bulletin to all radio stations and newspapers.
00:51:48Tell everyone to stay off the streets and remain calm.
00:51:51That goes for everybody.
00:51:53Right.
00:51:57Well, what do we do now?
00:51:59There's nothing we can do except wait for him to show up again.
00:52:25Attention, all citizens.
00:52:27This is an urgent public service bulletin from your police department.
00:52:30A dangerous killer beast is at large.
00:52:32You are asked to remain indoors.
00:52:35This is an urgent public service bulletin to all citizens.
00:52:38A dangerous killer beast is at large.
00:52:57A dangerous killer beast is at large.
00:53:28Don't, don't, don't do it, please.
00:53:32Don't.
00:53:33Now get out of here.
00:53:34But you don't understand.
00:53:36Give me a chance to explain, please.
00:53:38I'm sick of listening to your words.
00:53:40But, but please.
00:53:41Now you stay away from me.
00:53:43And if I never see you again, it'll be too soon.
00:53:46Now get out of here.
00:53:47But.
00:53:57But.
00:54:27Get out of here.
00:54:48Got him.
00:54:49Who's on the job?
00:54:51Right.
00:54:52He's shown up again.
00:54:53Where?
00:54:54He chased a girl near an all-night pharmacy.
00:54:56Let's see, he started here, then he appeared here, and now, right here at the pharmacy.
00:55:04He's got to be within that triangle.
00:55:12Instruct all units in sectors 15 and 16 to converge at area 11.
00:55:18Right.
00:55:20How about some more coffee, doctor?
00:55:22No, no.
00:55:23Charlie, you got any more coffee?
00:55:26No.
00:56:26Okay.
00:56:57Help!
00:57:00Police!
00:57:02Help! Police!
00:57:07Why don't you go to bed? It's getting pretty late.
00:57:10Okay, I'll try to check with you later. Goodbye, dear.
00:57:15Thank you, doctor.
00:57:18What's the matter?
00:57:20I've got two reasons to face the floor.
00:57:23Yes?
00:57:25But that's impossible. We've got that whole area swarming with men.
00:57:30Are you sure?
00:57:33Right.
00:57:35What is it? What happened?
00:57:36This whole thing is cockeyed.
00:57:38These are the three areas.
00:57:39Logically, then, the force should be in here.
00:57:41But it isn't. He was just spotted at a meatpacking house way out here.
00:57:44Well, how did he get out of that area? Isn't that covered by the police?
00:57:47That's a $64 question.
00:57:49That's a $64 question.
00:57:50It's a distance of almost seven miles.
00:57:52And nobody's seen him from there to there.
00:57:54That's right.
00:57:58There are only two ways this thing could get around.
00:58:00Walking and flying. He hasn't got wings.
00:58:03Any normal person could hide out in a hotel or any place.
00:58:07This is a white elephant.
00:58:09Any three-year-old child could spot him.
00:58:11The question is, how does he cover seven miles without being seen?
00:58:20Just an idea, Lieutenant, but I think I've got something.
00:58:22What is it?
00:58:24The storm drains.
00:58:26I don't get it.
00:58:27Some of those openings are big enough for two men to crawl into.
00:58:30You mean the catch basins?
00:58:33I think you've got something there, Doctor.
00:58:38I don't get it.
00:58:39I don't get it.
00:58:40I don't get it.
00:58:41I don't get it.
00:58:42I don't get it.
00:58:43I don't get it.
00:58:44I don't get it.
00:58:45I don't get it.
00:58:46I don't get it.
00:58:47I don't get it.
00:58:48I don't get it.
00:58:51Get me the city engineer in his home.
00:58:53What's the guy's name?
00:58:55Edwards. That's it, Edwards.
00:58:57Department of Public Works is right around the corner.
00:59:00So wake him up.
00:59:12The drainage and sewer system of the city are a lot cooler than the external temperature.
00:59:18I told you the creature had intuitive powers.
00:59:20He could have sensed the colder temperature.
00:59:22And that would explain why it was never seen from jump to jump.
00:59:25Do you have a complete chart of the storm drains?
00:59:28Lieutenant, there are 4,800 miles of storm drains under this city.
00:59:32We've got lots of charts.
00:59:34How about the east end?
00:59:36Yes.
00:59:40Cigarette?
00:59:41No, thanks.
00:59:43You know, Doctor, if there are drains connecting these areas, we've got something to work on.
00:59:47Mm-hmm.
00:59:51There we are, Lieutenant.
00:59:55That's the area.
00:59:56Right.
01:00:01They're the spots, Doctor, right along the drain lines.
01:00:04Can I take this with me?
01:00:05Yes.
01:00:08Thanks, Edwards.
01:00:10Sorry to wake you.
01:00:11Oh, that's all right, Lieutenant.
01:00:13Think nothing of it.
01:00:14Anything for the police department.
01:00:22Now, Richards, get eight men.
01:00:24Issue the works.
01:00:25Walkie-talkies, lamps, rubber boots, so on.
01:00:29Right, Lieutenant.
01:00:30The first detail will start here at 11th and Grand, near the warehouse.
01:00:35The second at Coast Street, where the girl was found.
01:00:38Coast.
01:00:39Doctor Parrish, myself, and a couple of officers will start here at the pharmacy.
01:00:44The first detail will work to the north.
01:00:47The second to the south.
01:00:49We work eastward.
01:00:50In time within the hour, we should all meet right here.
01:00:53That's right.
01:00:54Got it?
01:00:55Check.
01:00:56Hurry it up.
01:00:57All right, Doctor.
01:00:58Oh, Lieutenant, can we take a net along?
01:01:00Sure.
01:01:01Hey, Richards, get a big net and some poles to go with it.
01:01:04Right.
01:01:05And leave word where I'll be in case the hospital calls.
01:01:08Yes, Lieutenant.
01:01:10Let's go.
01:01:17Let's go.
01:01:47Let's go.
01:02:18Let's go.
01:02:20Let's go.
01:02:46Just a minute.
01:02:50Lynch?
01:02:54Lynch?
01:02:55Yes, Lieutenant.
01:02:56Can you make out anything?
01:02:57Not yet, Lieutenant.
01:02:58Proceeding south, according to plan.
01:03:00Over.
01:03:02How about you, Roberts?
01:03:03Anything happen at your end?
01:03:08Not yet, Lieutenant.
01:03:12Stay in contact.
01:03:19Stay in contact.
01:03:49Thanks, young boy, for bringing the net.
01:04:01We haven't got him yet, Doctor.
01:04:09Hold it.
01:04:10Let me check this.
01:04:14I never noticed that tunnel over there before.
01:04:19It intersects this drain and empties into the main drain center.
01:04:24You two take it.
01:04:25We'll go this way.
01:04:49There he is.
01:05:19He went up the tunnel, Lieutenant.
