A six-year-old girl has died in hospital following a stabbing in Mill Park in Melbourne's north-east last night.

A 39-year-old woman also died at the scene. A 40-year old man was taken to hospital under police guard in a critical condition. Police say they believe all three are known to each other and the matter is being investigated by the Homicide Squad.
