October 2021 में जैसे ही पेट्रोल की कीमतें Mumbai में 113 रुपये के स्तर पर पहुंची, देश में हाहाकार मच गया था. राज्य और केंद्र सरकारों ने स्टेट टैक्स को कम करके बोझ को थोड़ा कम करने के लिए कदम उठाया, पर अब भी ईंधन की कीमतों में ज्यादा कमी नहीं आई है. दुनिया में कई ऐसे शहर हैं जहां आज भी भारत की तुलना में बहुत महंगा पेट्रोल बिक रहा है. एक शहर तो ऐसा है जहां आज भी एक लीटर पेट्रोल के लिए 190 रुपए देने पड़ते हैं.
