xs is the shocking moment an ambulance on a 999 call is stalled in traffic - because of a car getting stuck in a cycle lane introduced as a controversial new road layout.

The cycle lanes on Cannonmills in Edinburgh was installed as part of the city council's Spaces for People project introduced during the pandemic to give people more space.

It has plastic rods installed along it - which caused a "pantomime" when a car attempting to give way to an ambulance found itself trapped on the evening of November 9 (Tues).

Interior designer Johnny Bacigalupo, 45, has had a business there for 17 years and said pollution has become so bad since the cycle lane was installed that he struggles to breathe.

He said the road design has caused a “permanent pantomime” on the street and has caused congestion which was never an issue before - and also fears for the safety of cyclists as he claims buses have knocked the plastic rods into the lanes.
