Wave energy is a new exiting renewable source of energy. It has the potential of supplying at least 10% of the world's electricity supply with a very stable source of energy. Wave Energy is less volatile than wind energy, has no environmental impact, on the contrary it actually attracts marine life because it acts as a sanctuary for marine life.
Wave Star Energy has developed a system that protects the marine energy material from the most violent storms. The basic concept behind Wave star is fundamentally different to many other wavepower models. The machine does not form a barrier against the waves, but instead cuts in at right angles to the direction of the wave.

Wave Star Energy in scale 1:10 has now been in operation and grid connected since April 2006 at Nissum Bredning in the North Western corner of Denmark. Since then the company's test machine has logged more than 16,000 operational hours, been through 12 significant storms and is a major step on the way towards commercial wave power. It is expected the first 500 kW converter will be installed in the North Sea during 2009 and will be grid connected to a big offshore wind park 15 km into the sea. The installation will be made in collaboration with the two utility companies Vattenfall and Dong Energy, who jointly own the 160 MW offshore wind park.

The scale converter can be visited in the Northern part of Denmark and is open by appointment. A pier connects it to shore. It can be visited in all weather conditions.
Because of globalisation, wave energy is expected to soon become commercial. It only requires enough countries in the beginning to provide attractive feed-in-tariffs for wave energy.
