Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards 2017 :Despite facing poverty, Reshma’s family built an ‘akhara’ (wrestling ring) for her in their house. While girls are meted out step-motherly treatment at home, a family in a village like Vadange are leaving no stone unturned to turn a family girl into a wrestler. Reshma was born in a farmer’s family. Parents are farmers. The Mane family wanted to turn their children into wrestlers. And out of this atmosphere was moulded Reshma. She has been learning the art of wrestling since the age of 6 and at the age of 8, she entered the wrestling ring. Then she started winning trophies and
she is still winning. She won a gold medal in free style for senior women in the Commonwealth Games held in Singapore in the 63 kg category. She is the only wrestler from Maharashtra credited with this performance.
