Retail Sales Fall In The UK

UK retail sales dropped while hosting the EURO 2020 soccer tournament as fans were glued to their TVs and bad weather kept everyone inside. Additionally, poor sales figures were blamed on the so-called “pingdemic” caused by a government tracing app. When cell phone users are “pinged” through the app and told to isolate themselves, they remain home, shop less, and potentially cause friends and family members to self-isolate. On a positive note, the UK appears to have recovered most of its 10% slip in 2020 after locking down for longer and suffering more COVID-19 deaths than most other nations.
