At the Shanghai Auto Show, Honda announced its plans to introduce 10 electric vehicles for China in the next five years, and the Honda SUV e:Prototype is a preview of its first electric SUV to be sold in that country. It's unclear whether this SUV, or any of the 10 EVs slated for China, will be sold in America. With the Honda e electric city hatchback receiving good reviews, it only makes sense that Honda would follow up with a similar concept in a crossover form factor. It's said to depend heavily on voice recognition, and will be able to operate smart home appliances, enable online shopping while driving, access vehicle functions via a smartphone, and update software over-the-air. There’s nothing related to range, power, fast charging capacity, or any of the other questions EV owners care about, which might be a tell at how far back Honda has been (and will continue to be) in the electric vehicle market. Honda also revealed its plug-in model Breeze PHEV.
Hey Guys, This is the all-new Honda SUV e Concept Electric SUV Revealed With Next-Gen Driver-Assist System.
Honda SUV e:concept is a concept model which indicates the direction of a future mass-production model of the Honda brand’s first EV to be introduced in China.
Honda is striving to develop a mass-production EV model which will offer a value based on mobility experiences that remain fresh and FUN for customers. To this end, the new EV model will be equipped with omnidirectional ADAS, the next-generation Honda SENSING safety and driver-assistive system with improved recognition, predication and decision-making performance, as well as the next-generation Honda CONNECT, which features an AI assistant interface, smartphone link and wireless updates made possible by advanced connectivity.
Just like the teaser released a few days ago, the SUV e:concept showcases LED accents on its fascia for that futuristic look. The whole styling previews what Honda has in store against similar vehicles, like the Nissan Ariya or the Tesla Model Y.
But Honda isn't banking on the design of the SUV e:concept. Its main selling point is the tech features it offers. The next-generation Honda Sensing, dubbed as omni-directional ADAS or advanced driver-assistive systems, touts improved recognition, prediction, and decision-making performance. It has a widened front camera angle, as well as a 360-degree radar that allows the vehicle to sense in a multitude of directions.
