Actress Maggie Q discusses the unique circumstances around her martial arts training for “The Protégé,” opposite Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton. She stars in the action-thriller after coming off of a major back surgery.
Maggie Q also explains on “Salon Talks” why “The Protégé” is different from other action movies because it emphasizes deep relationships between the characters. “This genre, it's not the best written genre in that there's not a lot of character development … I mean, it's entertainment at the end of the day,” Maggie Q said. “I was pleasantly surprised just five pages in that it didn't read at all like the action movies that are always sent over.”
Watch the full interview to hear Maggie Q open up about her early modeling career, the workers she’s fighting for in California, and her take on the #MeToo movement in Hollywood.
