Saranya Sasi, popular Malayalam actor, died on August 9 at the age of 35. She breathed her last at a private hospital in Trivandrum, Kerala. Sasi battled cancer for nearly a decade. She underwent 11 major surgeries during her treatment. This weakened her financially, physically and mentally. Sasi had been diagnosed with a form of brain tumour in 2012. Recently, she was admitted to a hospital after she was infected with Covid-19. Although Sasi recovered from Covid-19, she had other health-related problems. Saranya Sasi was a popular name in the Malayalam television & film world. Some of her television shows included Manthrakodi, Seetha and Harichandanam. Sasi also played supporting roles in Chotta Mumbai, Bombay, Chacko Randaman and Thalappavu. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled her demise in a post on Facebook. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said, “I join her family and millions of fans in mourning this brave woman, whose generosity and courage were legendary.”
