3 different ways to use Botox

Over time, wrinkles appear on the face through daily facial expressions and as skin matures. Botulinum toxin is a muscle relaxer that's commonly used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by disrupting the signaling between the nerves and muscles. It's made out of the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and is manufactured by brands including Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau. It's important to know that while Botox is a household brand name of botulinum toxin, "Botox" is also the term colloquially used to refer to any botulinum toxin injections. Common areas patients receive the treatment include the forehead; glabella, which is between the eyebrows; crow's feet on the corners of the eyes; jawline; neck; and around the mouth for a lip flip. Patients can receive injections for medical purposes including migraines, TMJ pain, or hyperhidrosis, which is also known as excessive sweating. All Botox injections last about three months and cost anywhere between $200 and $800, with hyperhidrosis injections costing upwards of about $1,000 per treatment. Beauty Insider visited Dr. Onyeka Obioha and Dr. Ohara Aivaz in Beverly Hills, California, to learn all about botulinum toxin injections and see how they work on the forehead, frown lines, lips, jawline, and armpits.
