Tokyo Olympics begin today, 11,000 players to participate

Ending a year's wait for sports fans, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will finally get underway in Japan on Friday morning. 11 thousand sportspersons from a total of 205 countries will be showcasing their talents in different sports fields. With the Covid-19 threat still looming large and cases rising by the day in the Olympic Village, the Tokyo 2020 Games will be played behind closed doors despite the country-wide protests calling for the cancellation of the quadrennial event.
