Twitter And Incorrect India Map Row: Social Media Website's Careers Page Image Changed After Uproar

Twitter on June 28 removed from its website a wrong map of India that showed Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh as a separate country after a backlash. The map displayed in the "Tweep Life" section of Twitter's website showed J&K and Ladakh outside India. The distorted map was flagged by a Twitter user and generated many angry reactions and demands for action. Reportedly, the government had warned of tough action, saying that the distortion of the country's map is a serious offence. In the past, Twitter had shown Leh as a part of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh as a part of China. “Twitter's mischievous representation of Indian Map is strongly condemned,” tweeted BJP leader P Muralidhar Rao. This is the latest in the raging feud between the government & Twitter over a range of issues, from the tagging of BJP leaders' posts as "manipulated media" to new rules for social media sites. Twitter India chief Manish Maheshwari has been named in an FIR in Uttar Pradesh over an incorrect map of India. This is the second FIR against Twitter this month in UP as troubles grow for the social media giant in the country. Watch the media to know more.
