Abandoned vehicles flooded out along I-94 in Detroit today, as the freeway remains shut down for a third consecutive day after heavy rainfall hit the region. The weekend’s downpour lead to several road closures, power outages and flooding of basements in the area, as well as the ongoing shuttering of this major interstate. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a State of Emergency in Wayne County over the situation on Saturday, and was seen today visiting the flooded freeway for a brief press conference. High water levels on nearby waterways have prevented efficient pumping of the floodwater off the freeway, leading to this scene along several miles of I-94 still this Monday.
