US Navy Uses EXPLOSIVES to Test Warship, Causing 3.9 Magnitude Earthquake

It might look like this gigantic US aircraft carrier is under attack in this footage, but it's just a test using live explosives.

The US Navy has been carrying out ‘Full Ship Shock Trials’ in the Atlantic Ocean.

The USS Gerald R Ford aircraft carrier completed a set of scheduled trials off the East Coast on Friday.

The 40,000lb explosion was detonated as part of a test to assess the warship’s ability to withstand battle conditions.

The explosive test registered as a 3.9 magnitude earthquake, according to the US Geological Survey.

Following the trials, the carrier will undergo modernisation, maintenance and repairs.
