More than 48,000 people contracted the virus in the last 24-hours. India has been reporting a rapid surge in new infections. For five straight days India has recorded more than 45,000 new infections. With this, over 14 lakh people have been affected by the infection in India. Over 32,000 people have died and 8 lakh people have recovered.
