T. M. Krishna: Diversity in Art Classrooms Will Change Conversations About Art

Singer, author and public figure T M Krishna has been spreading his message of the need for more democratisation of high art in all kinds of innovative ways. He has sung in a fishermen’s colony, incorporate popular music in his repertoire and now, in his latest book, Reshaping Art, he robustly argues the need to take art out of the academies and elite festivals and reach out to the population at large.

Here, Krishna speaks to Sidharth Bhatia about his book and the need for debate on these themes. He ends the discussion with a rendition of Poromboke, a song that speaks of concerns that are at once contemporary and universal. Click here to support The Wire: https://yt.orcsnet.com/#the-wire
