Giving Old Theatre Memories a Second Life

Jana Natya Manch, Delhi’s radical street theatre group, gave away decades-old props and costumes on July 12. Also known as Janam, the group has been wielding street theatre as a weapon of social protest. In 1989, its founder Safdar Hashmi was fatally attacked during a performance. Today, Janam is still relevant, going strong and now passing on its legacy to a new generation.
