YouTube is prepared to shell out $100 million over the course of a year.
The company says it will look for channels with the most engagement and views each month and reach out to them accordingly.
It's not yet known how much creators can earn each month, but YouTube says "thousands" of people could get paid.
Anyone who posts to Shorts is eligible as long as their videos contain original content and follow YouTube's community guidelines.
This isn't the first time creators have been offered money to use a platform.
In July 2020, TikTok launched a
$200 million creator fund.
