Tinder is taking steps to increase transparency and safety between users.
The dating service announced it will soon provide the ability to perform simple background checks.
This will allow users to feel safer when meeting up with prospective matches.
"The service will be provided by Garbo, which recently partnered with Tinder’s parent company." Match Group.
Garbo is a service that can fetch public records using a person’s first name and telephone number.
This includes information such as arrests, police reports, restraining orders and other legal documents.
It does not include drug offenses or traffic violations.
Garbo is expected to be added to Tinder within the next few months.
Match.com and OKCupid.com, which are also services under Match Group, will likely follow.
