Former prime minister Najib Razak has commented on the Perikatan Nasional government's decision to postpone Parliament until the end of the emergency on August 1.
Najib pointed out that while the PN government had said that Parliament cannot reconvene during the Emergency as a substantial number of MPs fall under the high-risk group for Covid-19, the same MPs could be seen sitting closely in a hall for the Prime Minister's 'Setahun Malaysia Prihatin' address.
He said this in response to de facto Law Minister Takiyuddin Hassan, who had said that the decision was taken based on scientific facts and data gathered in relation to the pandemic.
Takiyuddin added that the government did not want to expose MPs to unnecessary risks as many of them fall in the high-risk group for Covid-19.
