How many times did you buy an avocado from the shop and end up disappointed because it wasn’t ready at all?
Slate.fr tested 4 ways to make an avocado ripe faster and we'll tell you all about it!
The first method is to oven bake the avocado. Wrap it in aluminum foil then bake it for ten minutes or more at 90°C (190°F) until it softens.
The result is that it has the texture of a ripe avocado but not the taste. Ugh.
The second way and Slate’s team favorite is to place the avocado on the window under direct sun light for a straight 36 hours.
At the end, the avocado is definitely softer and creamier, the perfect consistence to make a guacamole!
The third one is to put the avocado in a closed paper bag with in it a banana. Bananas are known to release a gas that makes other fruits ripe faster.
After 36 hours in the paper bag, the avocado got barely softer.
Last but not least, place the avocado in a closed paper bag with flour on the bottom.
Within 36 hours, you get much better results than with the banana and you’re all set to make the perfect avocado toast.
