Johor Police arrested seven individuals suspected of stealing electricity from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) worth RM8.6 million to mine bitcoin in the state.

In a press conference today, state police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the arrests were made following a two-day operation with TNB's special engagement against losses (SEAL) team.

Police also confiscated 1,746 bitcoin mining machines worth RM2.6 million.

According to Ayob Khan, the mastermind of the operation is still at large.
