Abraham's caravan reaches the Land of Canaan and stops at a place called Shechem, where he finds a well. Here, the Lord tells Abram: "To your descendents I will give this land." To show his gratitude, Abraham builds an altar on the spot where the Lord spoke with him.
Then, he sets out again with the caravan and reaches Bethel. Here too, he builds an altar to the Lord, who then puts His people to the test once more, summoning a severe drought, followed by a terrible famine. In search of water and food, Abraham leads his caravan into Egypt. At the border he is asked of Sar'ai's identity. Thinking that they will be attracted by her beauty, Abram tells them she is his sister, afraid Egyptians might kill him to have her for themselves. The Pharaoh is infatuated with Sar'ai, takes her into his harem and heaps gifts upon Abraham, whom he believes is her brother. When he finally learns the truth, the Pharaoh requests that Abraham leave Egypt. Abraham then leads his caravan back to the land of Canaan.
He and Lot next decide to go their separate ways. Lot wants to settle in the River Jordan valley, with its abundance of water and lush vegetation, and so pitches his tents not far from the city of Sodom. Abraham remains with his share of the flocks, harvest, and tents in the land of Canaan, the Promised Land..

It also contains the proclamation of the Word of God, invisible and omnipotent, creator of heaven and earth, who turns once more to his people with the promise of the salvation which man has awaited since the moment of his creation and of his first sin...This is the subject of the "most widely-read book in the world" from which, in thirty-nine episodes, we evoke characters and events so that young people of the new generations can appreciate the richness of this great treasure.
